I will address the femicide epidemic in Latin America, specifically in Mexico. The lack of investigation and resources that go into femicide cases in Mexico along with the dismissal of the seriousness of the issue by governmental authorities creates a feeling of impunity amongst male perpetrators and results in no protections or safety measures for women.

Girls and women are targeted everyday simply for being women. Sexism and machista culture deems women’s lives as inferior to men’s. This results in men with no fear of consequences mercilessly kidnapping, assaulting and killing women.
I began by taking a look deeper into what exactly is considered a femicide and gain a more well–rounded understanding of what is really happening in Mexico.
